JANUS GERSIE OF GERMANY LIFTS THE GRAND PRIX OF SOUTH AFRICA CUP
Grand Prix of South Africa 2008
The South African Table Football Club hosted a hugely successful FISTF approved tournament on 25th May 2008 at the Cross Media training centre in Honeydew, and International entrant, Janus Gersie walked away with top honours after beating South Africa's number one, Clifford Graaff in the final. The organisation was excellent, the venue and food were superb and there were absolutely brilliant games of table football through the day. Our Junior member's all played against the Senior member's and therafter competed in their own knock out competition. SATFA always honours all of the junior participants by awarding them all a participation trophy, with the winners receiving additional honours. Our overseas guest taught every single South African member a thing or two and also shared some trade secrets with us all. The FISTF rules, (International) which all tournaments are based on shocked the local South African players a bit as they have once again changed, so it was a quick learning curve for all of us, but we managed and will now introduce these rules into our league matches with immediate effect. Well done to the SATFA committee and all of the back-room staff who not only make these days possible, but ensure that they are successful aswell. Our next FISTF approved tournament is in August and all of the players are looking forward to the next challenge, THE JOHANNESBURG CHALLENGER. THE GRAND PRIX OF SOUTH AFRICA - 25 MAY 2008

SATFA will be hosting the FISTF approved G.P. of South Africa at the Honeydew Printing College facility on Sunday 25th May 2008 from 8am - 4 pm.

You will notice that the date has been moved back by one week due to the surprise entry of one of the worlds top 120 table football players from Germany, Janus Gersie.

Janus arrives in South Africa on the 19th of May 2008 and we have gladly accomodated the date change, not only to be able to pit our skills against the top 120 ranked German but also to learn from him as he has successfully hosted the Table Football World Cup when it was held in Germany.
His knowledge and expertise as the Chief Tournament Organiser will be invaluable to our SATFA members on our crusade to bring The Table Football World Cup of 2010 right here to Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Table Football World Cup is always hosted just before the real deal so many entrants will remain after the tounament for some holiday fun in the sun whilst watching the Worlds top International team's in action.

24 Entries have been received through all catagories for the Grand Prix of South Africa, which means the growth of our Association and of our Club is rapidly increasing. Development is an integral part of our Association and through leagues and tournaments like the Grand Prix of South Africa, we can continue to grow our wonderful hobby.

Thanks to Soccer 3D our Johannesburg Table Football Club has received 7 playing sets complete with 2 teams, 2 goals, 2 balls and a playing surface for us to continue growing our development side of our Association. We are busy completing the tables for these sets and at this stage have 2 to go. The excitement builds each day as we get closer to the schedule of roadshows that have been planned for the Johannesburg area in 2008 and all outlying area's in 2009.

The members of SATFA and of the various leagues are very excited about the prospects of playing against one of the top 120 players in the world and look forward to the upcoming Grand Prix of South Africa on 25th May 2008.
